2023 High Lights
To wrap up the season our last day here @ Turoa was variable according to the PG who skied with me most of the day and then ditched me for Mr C6 himself and Duane who then proceeded to ski some amazing terrain out at the sliders.
no snow here
Today it was busy @ 10am when we arrived and holy toledo the queue was long but we hung in there, waited and before too long we were on the Giant and hello HNE we were away. So with such warm temps 15C mid Mountian the snow was mixed great groomed bit on the runs and then we skied out to a rather nasty downward run to load out at the top of the Parklane.
Snow coverage today was mixed up top and by that I mean above the Giant Cafe with some great groomed bits mixed with challenging uneven grooming and hard crusty stuff off trail before lunch - whew thats a whole lotta different terrain and that’s just before lunch. Off trail between runs was hard before lunch and by lunch today I mean at the Giant Cafe was 50% off today @ as a last hurrah.
This dude is like a Nordic skiing legend. Sporting the Lillehammer 94 Olympic Jumper. Hey Dude i want one of those says AJ
Local talk today was how different everything felt this year with a local community vibe happening that has probably not happened for a long time now on the hill and how everyone pulled together to get things moving after almost not being able to ski here.
So well done lifties, tower deicers and groomer teams we owe you guys a local beverage.
So the Best of 2023 here at Turoa
1) An amazing snow base of 2.7m at the height of the season
2) Mr PG not having to wait so long for me at the bottom of runs
3) Getting faster - refer to 2
4) Skiing with friends the good Drs and of course the PG
One can only hope 2024 will be equally amazing
