When the going gets tough….
The tough get going but just not today ! No, today was the day when PGs boldness collided with his oldness and resulted in a day that he will forget the details of more quickly than he normally does. With zero viz, a brass monkey SW and the chances of seeing the Noon running as likely as seeing some unicorn poo, today was a day that had PG reaching deep deep DEEP for his very best turd polishing rag and not really finding it.
The Princess of smugness and her warm butt in the electron rocket (the ONLY car in the wankers park).
The groomer drivers daily recommendation of WHYNOT being the place to be ski today was a bit curious because PG can tell you why not indeed, and that was because you couldn’t find the bloody thing amongst the pea soup that covered the maunga from top to bottom. But for the blue line things were going to go pear shaped very quickly if you found yourself not too far from the main runs adjacent to the towers.
Top of The Giant unloading station from about 20m out. Less than one tower viz all day. WHYNOT they said…..yeh right.
PG did however tough it out for 8 laps of the Giant - albeit on his lonesome as AJ gave him and the bum numbing slow chairs the flick in favour of the comfort of the Tesla’s heated seats and her knitting needles.
Regardless, it is with some minor glee that PG can report the snow to still be in in great condition which augurs well for the remaining 2 weeks of this classic Turoa season. Coverage from the bottom of the 6 upwards is fantastic for any time of year let alone mid October, and with the rapidly warming temperatures there is little or no ice to be encountered anywhere. However the shit viz and bone chilling wind saw PG wave the white flag and head for his very own heated seat by 1pm only to be met by her with the warm dry butt saying something along the lines of ‘you’re a real trooper PG…… BUT I BLOODY TOLD YOU SO’.
AJs morning vista. About as transparent as Winnie P’s electioneering
So as the end of this fantastic ’23 ski season rapidly nears an end we can but live in hope that this is not the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning for a great new chapter in all things Turoa. Fingers & toes crossed all you AJ blog homies.
Keep smiling.
