Powder Day
Friday 4th Day 3 and a Powder Day
Snow: 15cm Overnight made for some some fantastic turns on the groomers. 5cm landed on the lower 1/2 of the Mountain since the groomers went thru. Just enough to make skiing super fun and enjoyable given there was hardly anyone on the Mountain I was in heaven, especially as my ski legs are almost back.
Parking was tricky as Lot 1 is closed for racing volunteers, When I left Lot 2 was full and Lot 3 was 3/4 full. Lot 3 Parking has a ton of stairs and a bit of a walk to get to the lifts so this is to be avoided at all cost. I have been parking in the Golf course Parking Lot which has saved a ton of walking and has a great loo - (almost as good as Japan). Good bathroom facilities are essential to us gals.
I pretty much lapped runs off the Sunbird Chair given very few people were about and the snow was fab I just practiced turns and edging. Yawn boring I know but I am here for another month - this is a big Mountain and there is plenty of terrain and time to explore everything I can ski without a death wish.
Temps were mild with -2C when I arrived and 0C when I came home. This is mild weather and a few layers had to be removed after a runs or 2 .
I am staying in Invermere which is a 20min drive from the Mountain, very similar to Ohakune and Turoa distance and drive time.
