Two Amigos
We made it baby
Unfortunately due to visa issues only 2 of us made it to Kelowna. Ellie will be arriving in another 24hrs. So with an extra day in the Okanagan Valley what were we to do? Ski of course why would you go to a mall when there are 2 world class ski areas on your door stop. So today we headed to Big White around an hrs drive from Kelowna. Big White has been on my list of places to ski ever since we skied at Silver Star 7 yrs ago. Making lemonade out of lemons here folks. So we headed up the hill after tracking down a delicious Flat White on route from Attitude Coffee. Just as we were arriving at Big White a tree had fallen down across the road and taken some power lines with it. So unbeknown to us the whole resort was with out of power ie lifts, condos, food outlets and ticketing of course. So after waiting in the car for an hr or so we decided to check things out. The cafe was very dark without lights and of course no hot drinks available. Some lifts did run with the generators going gang busters. But the Resort was letting everyone ski for free how about that! So we had an amazing 1st day in some great conditions. Hard to beat a nice dusting of new snow, cold temps, good grooming and did I mention FREE my homies. Normal single day lift passes are $125 CAD here so what a bonus. We can now afford to go out for dinner! As always on the 1st day of a long trip I am careful not to blow those legs, crash or injure myself so consequently Grace had some waiting to do. The renowned snow ghosts were everywhere and are pretty special. Visibility was somewhat mixed with clear patches and cloud all making a apperance.
Big White Stats: 116 Runs (this place is BIG), 13 Lifts, 54 groomed runs for us oldies.
