Day 6
Today counted as my sixth day on the hill for the season. And no I didn’t count last Friday when I actually did make it up to the car park but because of the hoards of people I pretty much came straight back down. I have indeed surpassed last years total of 3 days and it’s only August 8th.
Turoa had a light dusting of snow last night and the car park was considerably less a dice with ice than yesterday. The chairs on the Movenpick however were coated in rime ice first up. This did remind me of skiing at Whitefish and the need for butt flaps to stop you sticking to the chairlifts, not to mention keeping that butt toasty.
Icy ride up this morning
The Doctors Jackson made there own way to the hill this morning as they awaited a snow report from yours truly who was thinking conditions might be somewhat similar to yesterday. This was true to a certain extent. Light conditions were similar but temperatures were colder and the snow remained hard and fast most of the morning. Off trail was hard ice and not to be played with. Yesterday the snow softened and released around lunch making for some nice soft turns but this was not to be today.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to ski with Dr PJ today as we kept missing each other but she was sporting her new C6s when I saw her under the chairlift.
A very quiet Tuesday
I am expecting to see two pairs of these tomorrow on the chair lift.
