C6 Demo Day

PJ happily trialling those new C6’s

Ohakune emptied out on Sunday with all the weekend warrior skiers heading home. That just left us boomers to enjoy the slopes on Monday along with a few truant kids. And enjoy them we did.

Car Park conditions were treacherous when we arrive just before 9am. Even though grit had been sprinkled around the ice was slick and deceptive.

With PJ having been informed that her skis were kaput last time she had a wax, her and David have been on the lookout for a new pair. With Mr C6 on the hill and his retail outlet open today was gonna be the day to try those C6s. What an awesome day to try some. With the car park only 1/2 full, good viz, nice machine packed powder on trail and fresh legs several options for those new skis were tried. DJ also demoed a pair but decided he’s happy with his old ones. Mrs PJ (PhD) however was particuarly impressed with the Apolo’s and a new pair is being picked up from Raetihi tonight and will be ready to ski tomorrow weather Gods permitting. So that will make 3 pairs of Apolos in our group. PG also has a pair, his are a little longer than PJ’s and myself so we shouldn’t get them too mixed up in the ski rack after lunch.

So much snow the base is now 230cm.

Avid readers of the blog will be impressed to learn that I skied into the double digits today 12 runs I believe. Nothing like ski buddies to get your MoJo going. Turoa redeemed itself today after last weeks abysmal stats of crappy weather and waaay too many people. The snow cover remains amazing and more snow is arriving this week.
