Lamma Island
Lamma Island is a popular weekend destination for locals and today it was our turn to savour the delights of the island. After much early morning banter about the name Lamma and whether it was pronounced or spelt anything like the camelid from South America Llama we headed over on the ferry for some lunch.
Lamma Island is the third largest Island in outer HK and is home to a large coal fired power station which dominates the landscape. What used to be a fishing based ecomony has now turned to tourism and the Island sports a number of restaurants one of which we visited and had a delicious lunch.
No cars are allowed on the island and everyone bikes around hence the large number of bikes lining the walkway to the ferry.
No cars allowed on the island and in fact no roads are suitable for them. Everyone bikes here.
Our lunch destination
Lunch with a sea view a welcome respite from the heat.
