2m Base

After the latest storm hit Turoa last week and deposited 50cm of the white fluffy stuff the base broke the 2m mark. With more snow expected to come in on Wednesday it could even get to 2.5m. This sure is a whole lot better than last season when only the top of the Mountain was open and even that was marginal.

Very Flat Light at the top of the Movenpick

With the weekend crowds still hanging around - the top car park was almost full this morning as I arrived.

Car Park Temp. +2 C This meant that the car park was icy early on and a river when I left.

Weather: Low cloud socked in the hill and light drizzle made seeing anything a mission. Turoa is not a safe place when you can’t see sod all and the runs are busy.

The blue line was out everywhere today and this certainly helps depth perception and vertigo. Clarry’s Track has received some welcome snow since my last ski there 2 weeks ago and looks well covered now (when I could see).

Yes that’s AJ at her finest.

So after getting wet and not being able to see I packed it in. Lucky it’s a beautiful drive up the hill through our National Park.
