Spring Wax

Who can resist a free wax - Not me for sure

For those that don’t ski wax is the stuff that goes on the base of your skis so you can easily slide over the white fluffy stuff. Over here in BC you usually have a winter wax used in cold conditions during Jan & Feb this wax is used when snow conditions are firm hard cold and fast here you need a grippy wax. During spring it’s ideal to use a spring wax for the soft slushy conditions likely to be encounted during a typical day on the hill this means a slippy wax is needed to glide over the snow so you don’t get stuck.

Syndicate Board shop which is just across the road from where we are staying has a free spring wax offer to try and encourage skiers to think about the wax you use and how it can improve your on Mountain experience. THANK YOU Syndicate it sure made my day a whole lot more enjoyable in the wet sticky snow.

So Mountain conditions today were much improved from Thursday’s skiing on ice and slick conditions. Temps were +4C when we arrived. I was expecting the snow to be soft and slushy but much to my delight the skiing was on nice soft creamy groomed snow. Much like whipped cream firm but soft and delightful. So much joy was had. Unfortunately a little after 2pm the snow lower down the hill turned sticky and much effort was required to push ahead, keep the weight forward and make headway. Mr AJ was back slope side but unfortunately had a small spill and quit the hill early.

Snow/Rain is forecast tomorrow night so Im hoping for another day of soft playful snow tomorrow.
