Too cold to ski
Our 1st day in Smithers and the hill is closed due to frigid temperatures. -25C is the threshold needed to make it unsafe for staff and skiers alike. Tomorrow looks like it will be warmer and next week even warmer. Hopefully by the time the rest of the Whanau arrive it will be almost tropical. No 1 ski buddy this trip is Ellie who unfortunately has come down with a cold today. Fingers crossed for her to get better by tomorrow - drugs, lemon honey drinks and rest are the go today.
View from the Storks Nest Inn. Clear skies & -12C in town.
Smithers shops will be visited and a trip to the cross country area will be undertaken later today after Ellie has rested. Storks Nest Inn where we are staying is busier than last year with cross country skiers and nurse’s making up the bulk of guests.
She made it for a coffee!
