Turoa 1st ski for 2024

After waiting for 2 weeks I finally made it up the hill today. School has returned and even tho there has been no snow for the last 2 weeks I couldn’t wait any longer. Craig and Phil are also visiting and the great PG will ski in almost any conditions, so we hit the hill for the first turns on Turoa for 2024.

Day 1 for the C6’s

Snow conditions can only be described as variable. Pure Turoa the new owners of our beloved field are doing a great job of moving the snow around the Mountain to get the most out of the whats available snow wise. Clarry’s Track was in pretty decent shape with no major holes like there can be with a low snow base. A 15cm base on the lower Mountain means that the base is very rocky with just enough snow to ski onto the bottom lifts.

New Cafe/Bar upstairs at the Base Lodge. This cafe has been closed for the last 2 yrs so it was nice to see it open again.

Runs Open - Clarrys Track, Upper Freeway, Boneyard, and lower Bypass down to the Giant.

Visability- Mixed with passing cloud, misty rain and clear bright spots. The blue line did appear mid morning to help us out with the low vis.

Snow Conditions: Mid Mountain nice soft skiable snow providing for some fun early turns. Lower Boneyard was getting pretty choppy and pushed around by lunch and with a light drizzle moving in we headed home for some lunch.

New cubbies where the retail shop used to be.
