Cold Plunge
She’s In. How wonderful to have a local lake you can plunge in ice skate and cross country ski on.
No 1 Weasel had her first cold plunge in the lake today. I had the honour of being the photographer so didn’t participate - maybe next time when I pluck up the courage. She reported it felt very tingly on your skin and helped her knee which was injured in a crash yesterday before we even made it to the ticket office. Luckily we were able to swap days so yesterday was spent visiting local potteries and checking out the Buckley River which runs past Smithers all the way to the Pacific Ocean. It was mostly frozen yesterday but was very impressive. The local delicacy steel head trout live in the river and are famous around these parts.
Fab cross country ski area on the way up the hill to where the real skiing takes place. Will she change to cross country?????
HBM report: -8 C this morning as I headed to Two Sisters to get our coffee before skiing. A heavy frost meant a bluebird day on the hill. Hard and fast was the name of the game day today with those looong groomers providing some great terrain for carving up a storm. With hardly anybody on the hill I managed lap after lap. Blitzkrieg on those groomers I thought. With the end of our Canadian Ski touring, I am looking forward to Turoa being open, a 2m base and hosting the PG in Ohakune, skiing with my ski bestie and generally getting those kms in. Thanks for reading the blog homies and Ill be back in 5 or 6 months when Turoa opens.
Views everywhere today and hardly anyone around.
