We are back
Today the weather was okayish with new snow last night -15cm mid mountain and around 5cm at the base. PG arrived yesterday to deal to some pest control issues we have in our local native bush block and he was chomping at the bit to head up today so with the Mountain open and conditions looking allright we headed up.
Temps were a warm +2 when we arrived so no snow guns blazing. A significant amount of snow melt has occured since our last visit 9 days ago. Last week here in Ohakune we were blessed with continual rain, overcast skies and generally miserable conditions. All this meant was that the amazing snow pack that was 9 days past, has now but all been trashed on the lower 1/4.
Given these new snow pack conditions I only did 1 run (sorry homies) but the unstoppable PG did at least 11 - he is one tough cookie. Luckly it’s very hard to flatten the battery on a Tesla waiting for 3 hrs for his highness (PG) to get his laps in.
Snow conditions were thin, rock riddled and generally challenging. Good thing schools back this week otherwise the slopes would have been a disaster.
Drizzle, low light and marginal snow conditions did not deter the PG who smashed out at least 11 runs, 3 runs on the Giant and the rest on the Movenpick. The blue line was amazing today for providing a visual reference about where to go.
Top of the Giant. Gnarly.
Always good to see POW on the cafe tables. And PG…. :-)
Or resting area for snowroaches in the middle of the yard run ?
Picture paints a thousand words. Tough day at the office.
