A Day at the beach HK style
After a busy day shopping yesterday at the our local guides favourite shopping centre aka the Schenz PJH decided a restful day at the beach was required.
Repulse Bay was our chosen destination. There are plenty of transport choices from Kennedy Town - bus, train and taxi, the ride takes between 20 and 30 min depending on transport choices. Rupulse Bay is named after a 19th Century HMS sailing ship and faces out towards the China sea with a few outer islands sheltering it from open water. It boasts lovely white sand and clear blue water. Some pretty trees along the beach front provide welcome shade to rest under and dry off after a swim. One can imagine the place would be chocka on a weekend but on this lovely Tuesday we were lucky to have very few people to compete with. Some swimming and book reading followed by lunch was enjoyed by the homies. The beach itself is almost 300m long and has 4 manned life guard towers patrolling the water. The waves were non existent today and one wonders if the surf ever gets higher than 5cm. The current day time temperature is around 28C so just perfect for beach visiting.
South Tower 4 manned by a dude wearing the same kit as our Ellie does at little old Sunset Beach.
The white sand has been heavily modified after complaints from local residents that it was blowing into their properties and creating a nuisance. So coarse sand was added to the whole beach leaving only about 5m of original sand just before the waters edge. WTF
Some very expensive real estate over looking the Bay.
