Canadian Ski Quest Day 2

Ronnie on the LHS, Christine in the middle and Greg on the RHS

Temp: + 1 C at the base

Visability: An inversion layer in the morning provided nice clear lines of sight on the upper mountain. Moving onto socked in fog after lunch. Mid Mountain was very challenging as you skied through the inversion layer.

New snow: Web site says 3cm of new snow overnight. All I could hear was rain during the night and my car was snow free this morning. Maybe up higher on the Mountain they got a little snow but down at the base not a saussage.

Base: 118cm

The car park when I arrived this morning was awash with water and icy patches. Good thing I have my little rubber waterproof boots. Even in these warm conditions it’s so easy to take a tumble in the slosh.

Snow conditions varied right across the Mountain. Down at the base at 9am it was corn, upper Mountain was nice and creamy. Fondant icing snow our ski coach calls it. In the afternoon with the warm temps and low viz the snow changed consistency to heavy spring like slop. Boy oh Boy the legs got a work out today especially that long run home at the end of the day. With only 3 folks in the group we get plenty of skiing and not a lot of talking. This week I am working on being more dynamic - up down stuff in the turn if you like.
