Ellie scoping out the terrain
And Just like that I’m Back. Thanks to Grace for filling in yesterday and Ellie’s on the blog later in the week - watch this space Homies.
Conditions today on Red were variable with cold low cloud hovering over the lower mountain and at the top of the hill clear skies prevailed. Paradise chair lift didn’t open till 10 ish due to a brisk cold wind that whipped around the corner of the top return on the Paradise chair. This meant a change in plan for our group which generally does a couple of warm up runs on this side of the hill. Our group led by the lovely Christine and is made up of 2 blokes, Rodger + Pete, and 3 gals, Shirley (who I have skied with before) Browyn and myself. Pete is the oldest in the group and at 85 is a pretty decent skier - go Pete. I can only hope that when I’m 85 I can ski as well as him. Shirley comes in at 73yrs old with myself following on at 63 and the other 2 in their 50’s. Our instructor is a youthful 40 something and been coaching for the last 25 yrs so has a wealth of knowledge on the finer points of ski technique.
Snow conditions today were very nice on most runs, with nice soft snow making for easy turns. The tree runs according to yesterdays blogger were nice with the snow holding up very well. No new snow is forecast until Friday when a new front comes in and blasts the resort with 15-20cm of snow and very cold temps. Next week is looking particularly frigid with some temps in the -20C range so I’m not too sure how much I’m gonna like that.
Tomorrow is Day 3 of the course so we truck on folks.
